KEMI Safety Grant Program overview:

KEMI’s Safety Grant Program is designed to encourage and assist our insureds who wish to purchase equipment or participate in safety training that substantially reduces or eliminates injury and illness associated with a particular task or operation.

  • Beginning Jan. 1, 2025, any active KEMI policyholder may apply.
  • Awarded policyholders are eligible for up to $2,500 in grant funds on an annual basis.
  • Safety grant applications must be completed on kemi.com. KEMI cannot accept emailed, mailed, or faxed copies of the application.
  • The safety grant application will remain available on kemi.com until all budgeted funds have been exhausted.
  • KEMI cannot retroactively approve funds for items previously purchased or training already conducted.

KEMI Safety Grant Program approval/denial timeline:

  • Policyholder completes safety grant application on kemi.com.
  • Policyholder will receive a confirmation email after successfully submitting the application.
  • KEMI’s Safety Grant Committee will meet monthly to review and vote on applications received.
  • Policyholders applying for a safety grant will be notified of approval/denial within five days of Safety Grant Committee meeting.
  • If a policyholder’s application for grant funds is denied, the policyholder will receive a phone call to explain the reason for denial.
  • If a policyholder’s application for grant funds is approved, policyholder will have 60 days to purchase the approved safety equipment and/or conduct approved safety training and email a copy of the receipt to safety@kemi.com.
  • Policyholder will be mailed a reimbursement check for the purchase within 20 days of receipt submittal.
Individual completing the safety grant application must be the owner, chief executive officer, chief financial officer, safety director, or other person having fiduciary responsibilities with the employer.

While safety grants are designed to help employers substantially reduce or eliminate injuries and illnesses in the workplace by helping the insured purchase safety equipment or training, KEMI does not warrant or guarantee that the safety equipment or training purchased through the Safety Grant Program will reduce or eliminate injuries or illnesses. KEMI does not assume any liability beyond that stated in the relevant workers’ compensation insurance policies.
